The annual general body meeting of Goa Dairy held on Sunday morning passed the annual report of the 2017-18 fiscal, showing profit of Rs 1.80 crores.
The chairmen of the milk societies have expressed surprised about how the Goa Dairy can be in profit when sale has gone down.
The meeting presided by administrator Damodar Morajkar discussed various issues of Goa Dairy.
Acting MD R S Dhuri, assistant registrar of cooperative societies Pankaj Marathe were also present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that the last meeting held twenty eight days back had witnessed chaos after all the HoD’s of Goa Dairy were told to leave the hall. The meeting was adjourned because there was nobody to chair it as the government had dissolved seven directors of the Goa Sate Co-operative Milk Producers Union (Goa Dairy) and also had asked to place the Managing Director Dr. Navaso Sawant under suspension.
Sawant was later suspended and the charge was given to Dhuri.
Jayant Desai, chairman of Mill society, told media persons that during the meeting they had demanded a re-audit of the annual report alleging corruption.
“But the administrator told us that if we don’t pass it today then further functioning of Goa Dairy will be impaired. Hence on his assurances to conduct a full enquiry into the illegalities, we agreed,” Desai informed, adding that they have every hope that the administrator will bring those responsible for the illegalities to justice.
Another Milk Society chairman, Vikas Prabhu said that once the enquiry is completed everything will come out, in regards to corruption and scams. “We have been assured that the enquiries we demanded will be conducted,” he said.
Speaking to media persons, Dhuri informed that Sunday’s meeting was held peacefully and that the annual report was passed with Rs 1.80 crores as profit.
“The members had demanded enquiry into some issues, and we have assured them that we will do the needful,” Dhuri said.
The farmers have demanded an enquiry into cattle feed loss, fill pack machinery purchase and in other areas of Goa Dairy affairs, where they suspect corruption to have taken place.
During the meeting, the Milk Society chairmen also questioned how Goa Dairy suddenly came into a profit when the sale was down and had demanded re-audit. But finally they were pacified by the administrator by assuring to conduct all the necessary enquiries.
